National Clinical Engagement and Implementation Manager
Simon is our National Clinical Engagement and Implementation Manager for NHS Supply Chain: Rehabilitation, Disabled Services, Women’s Health and Associated Consumables.
He came into nursing as a mature student after completing a degree in Biomedical Sciences.
Simon spent most of his nursing career in community services, before moving into acute care. In December 2013 he became lead nurse for tissue viability at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. While there he won the trust’s Rising Star award for work to support clinicians to significantly reduce hospital acquired pressure ulceration.
Simon also worked as a guest lecturer at the University of the West of England on tissue viability, and as a professional advisor for the Care Quality Commission.
In April 2016 Simon was seconded to work in the Department of Health on a national programme to establish if clinical input positively impacted the procurement of healthcare products. The pilot influenced the now standard operating model for NHS Supply Chain.
In 2018 Simon returned to University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust as Deputy Head of Nursing, with a portfolio addressing quality metrics, assurance of care, and patient and staff safety, before joining CPP in 2019.
